The following PWS have achieved signature status in the American Watercolor Society.

Frederick Bidigare, AWS, Pat Cook, AWS, H.C. Dodd, AWS, Howard J. Eberle, AWS, Ann M. Howes, AWS, Douglas Wiltraut, AWS, and Donna J. Witty, AWS. Congratulations to all!

Miniature artist Jacqueline Mitchell Smith, of Wernersville, PA, had four watercolor paintings selected by the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors, and Gravers - Patron His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales - for the Annual Exhibition in in the Royal Mall Galleries, London England. Two additional paintings were accepted in the Berks Art Alliance 28th Open Juried Art Exhibition at the Reading Public Museum. One of paintings was awarded first place, the Award of Excellence and a purchase award by Bosoms.


Gloria Baker, PWS, of Evansville, IN had paintings accepted into the Alabama WCS64th National Exhibition at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art. Gloria was also accepted into the Louisiana WCS 35th Annual Exhibition at Place St. Charles, New Orleans, LA.


Artist Carol A. Staub, of Somerset, NJ. Was selected for the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Center 109th Annual Open Juried Exhibition to be held at the National Arts Club, NY during October. Carol was also part of a four person exhibit at the A.E. Bean Backus Gallery and Museum in Fort Pierce, FL. She was accepted into Museum of Art Artists Guild “Images“ exhibition in Boca Raton, FL; San Diego WCS 25th Annual International; Associated Artists of Southport 25th Annual in Southport, NC; First Frontier Collage Society’s 6th Annual National; Florida Chapter of the National Assoc. of Women Artists “Vernissage; Exhibition at Cornell Museum,; and Palm Beach WCS 2005 Member’s Showcase.


Carolyn A. Doucette, PWS, of Rugby, ND, has been published in the “Watercolor” magazine and one of her paintings appears in the book, “Splash 5: The Glory of Color”. Her works are in a number of collections including the Taube Museum of Art, Minot, ND and the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, MA. Her work can be viewed at carolinedoucette.com Caroline has also been accepted in several 2005 national/international juried exhibitions.


Artist Sylvia Murdock, PWS of Monhegan, ME, became a signature member of the New England WCS last July. She is also exhibiting inn the New England Regional Juried Exhibition in Saco, ME and was awarded an “Honorable Mention”.


Donald W. Patterson, PWS-sgg, of New Hope, PA, has had two paintings selected for publication in the North Light publisher's book, “SPLASH” to be released in 2006. Donald was Juror of Selection and Judge of Awards for the Garden State WCS’s 36th Annual Exhibition. He also received an “Honorable Mention” award in the Artists Magazine 2005 Art Competition and the Bradley C. Barnard Award in the 2005 Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors.


Artist Hazel Stone, PWS, of Phoenix, AZ, had paintings accepted into the Kansas Great 8 Exhibition, Wichita art Museum and the San Diego WCS 25th International Exhibition, Showcase Gallery. Hazel also became a PWS signature member as a result of her acceptance in the PWS’s 26th Annual Exhibition. She will be the Juror of Selection and Awards for the Southern Arizona WCS Guild Juried Exhibition at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.


Siv Spurgeon, PWS, of Swarthmore, PA, received first place for Pro Watercolor in the Community Arts Center Membership Show.


Artist Susannah Hart Thomer, PWS, of Plymouth Meeting, PA, had a painting accepted into the Adirondacks Watercolor Exhibition as well as the PWS 26th. Susannah won the Jack Richeson Award at the Transparent Watercolor Society of America.


Henry C. Meier, PWS, of Lewes, DE, was awarded the Bendann Art Galleries Prize at the Baltimore WCS Annual Exhibition. Henry gave a two day workshop at the Chestertown Art League and donated a demonstration and slide lecture for the new Delaware WCS in March, 2005.


James McFarlane, PWS, of Norristown, PA, authored two articles for the AWS Newsletter one of them featuring Jean Dobie, PWS. Jim had a painting accepted into the San Diego WCS International Juried Exhibition and has kept busy giving presentations, critiques, and workshops during the year.


Sy Ellens, PWS, of Kalamazoo, MI, has had paintings accepted into 21 juried competitions through June of 2005 and has garnered a long list of awards throughout that same period. The awards range all the way from First Place through merchandise awards in exhibits clear across the country.


Long time PWS artist, Jean Dobie, PWS, of Berwyn, PA, was part of the Adirondacks Arts Center “Wings and Things” in Old Forge, NY and won the “Brodock Award” at the Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolors and is part of the Travel Show of New York. She also won the Captain Rogers Award at the San Diego WCS International Exhibition.


Lorraine Ptacek, PWS, of Elmhurst, IL, has had paintings accepted into the Mississippi WCS’s Grand National wc Exhibition; “Water media 2005”; Southside Art League’s “Midwest National Abstract Art Exhibit I”; and the Wyoming WCS’s XX Annual National Exhibition. She has also exhibited paintings in the “Best of Best Show” sponsored by the West Suburban Fine Arts Alliance and in “The Art Around Us”, Barrington Area Arts Council. Lorraine had a One-Person show in Gallery II, Dupage Art League and won awards at the Addison Art and DuPage Art Leagues.


Artist Debi Watson, PWS, of Lancaster, PA, recently won a First Place Award at the Colony Paper Show in York, PA. The piece was purchased by the company for their corporate collection. She also won Second Place at the Lancaster Art Association’s Annual Juried Exhibition. Debi’s website is www.debiwatson.artspan.com.


Sandra McKeehan, of Carlisle, PA, had a painting accepted into the “art of the State” in Pennsylvania and will be hanging in the State Museum through September. She won the “Third Place Award” for Works on Paper.
