
Anna Marie Legler, PWS, of Pittsburgh, PA, had two paintings accepted in the Hoyt Institute Juried Regional Art Exhibition which will open April 12, 2005. The show will be hung in the Hoyt Institute of Fine Art in New Castle, PA the site of our PWS Silver Anniversary exhibition last year.
Howard J. Eberle, PWS-sgg, of Charlotte, NC, has achieved signature status in the AWS by acceptance of his painting into the 137th Annual AWS Exhibition. His painting also was awarded the AWS Bronze Medal of Honor in the exhibition. Howard also had a painting selected for inclusion of the 35th Annual International Exhibition of the Louisiana WCS.
Gail Bracegirdle of Bensalem, PA, was awarded a leeway Foundation Window of Opportunity Grant to partially support her January painting residency at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnstown, VT. In the four weeks there, she began a new body of work using hand made paper and watercolors made of ground materials. She has been a member of the Artist's Gallery in Lambertville, NJ for eight of its ten years and will be featured there in a two person exhibit in April 2005. She has presented continuing education classes in both Lawrenceville at the Triangle Art Center and in Trenton, NJ at the Artworks/Mercer County CC.
Bill Teitsworth, PWS, of Moscow, PA, will receive the Silver Medal of Honor at the 138th Annual Juried Exhibition of the AWS. The exhibit opens on April 5th at the Salmagundi Club, 47 - 5th Avenue, New York City. His winning painting can be seen on his website: Bill Teitsworth Website
Arthur L. Kaye, PWS, of Valley Village, CA, was honored by the Pasadena Society of Artists with their first Distinguished Member Award. This honor includes a one person exhibition at the Mellon Gallery in Arcadia, CA, March 19th through April 23rd, PSA is celebrating its 80th anniversary.
Steven J. White, PWS, of Lansdale, PA was the recipient of the Violet Oakely Award in the 2004 Side by Side Exhibition of the Philadelphia and National WCS's held last May in Glendale, CA. Steven was also awarded the Ruth G. Rosenau Silver Medallion in the 2004 Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors and received the Edgar A. Thronson Award at the Hardcastle Evening and Afternoon of Art Exhibition held at the Art Center, Goodstay Center in Delaware. Steve was part of a two man show at The Arts Center, Old Forge, NY; exhibited in the Immaculata Srt Show; will exhibit at Historic Yellow Springs in May; a solo exhibition in June at the Radclyffe Gallery in Peddlers Village, Lahaska, PA with the opening reception on Saturday, June 4th.
Kitty Waybright, PWS (Silver Anniversary Catalog Cover artist), of Cuyahoga Falls, OH won the 1st Place Award in the Hudson Society of Artists 8th Annual Mid Winter Show, in Hudson, OH. The show ran through the month of February, 2005.
Lorraine Ptacek, Pws, of Elmhurst, IL had paintings juried into: The Norris Gallery's Watercolor 05 Exhibition, St. Charles, IL; The National University of Health Sciences Art Exhibition with the DuPage Theatre Visual and Performing Arts Coalition, Lombard, IL; and the Elk River Area Arts Alliance's "Arts In Harmony '05'", Elk River, WI. Lorraine also won an award in the Addition Art Guild's Fall Exhibition at Schaunburg, IL.
Roberta Carter Clark, PWS, of Little Silver, NJ, and Frank Webb, PWS, of Pittsburgh, PA were honored with Master Status by the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. Each was given a beautiful crystal paper weight as a tribute to their achievement in watercolor painting. There are only 26 members of TWSA in the country who have earned this status. Frank also won an award in the TWSA Annual and an award from the Hudson Valley Art Association.
John Salminen, PWS-sgg, of Duluth, MN, received the 1st Place Award from the Georgia WCS XXV National. John also won top honors at the Plano Art Association 2004; an award from the Western Colorado Exhibition, Louisiana WCS Exhibition, Northwest WCS Exhibition, and the San Diego WCS Exhibition.
Jean Dobie, PWS, of Berwyn, PA, received the Brodock Award at the Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolors and her work was selected for the traveling show. Jean also won the Captain and Mrs. Rogers Sponsor Award from the San Diego WCS's International Exhibition.
Carole Pickle, PWS, of Emmaus, PA won Best of Show from the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibition; another 1st Place Award from the 30th National Watercolor Oklahoma Exhibition; and a Medal Award from the Baltimore WCS mid Atlantic Regional Exhibition.
