In 1996, in order to provide a greater challenge to members the Sylvan Grouse Guild was established. The Sylvan Grouse Medal is presented only to members who have maintained signature status and is awarded on a point system. The Bronze medal that goes with induction into the Guild depicts the Commonwealth's flower (Mountain Laurel), tree (hemlock), and bird (ruffed grouse). At this time, thirty-three members have been inducted into the guild. Members of the Guild are authorized to add "sgg" after "PWS" of their signatures.
